Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by Enoch Seeman could be acquired at Christies in London in December 2000 for an unexpectedly low price. In the British Pictures 1500-1850 auction, the work Portrait of Lady Caroline D'Arcy, Countess of Ancram, full-length, in a grey satin dress, beside a column, before an archway, with a landscape beyond changed hands for GBP 11,750.00 (€ 18,717.64) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of GBP 12,000.00 – 18,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Enoch Seeman - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait Of A Gentleman In Moroccan Dress, Probably John Montagu, 2Nd Duke Of Montagu (1690-1749), which sold at auction in December 2015 for GBP 43,750.00 (€ 59,410.40).
