Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Spruce Trees In Fog, Great Spruce Head Island, Maine, 1954 by Eliot Porter was auctioned at Christies in New York in May 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 2,250.00 (€ 1,845.17) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Eliot Porter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Trees, 1958-1975 in April 2008 with an auction result of USD 46,600.00 (€ 29,933.20).

Die Arbeit Spruce Trees In Fog, Great Spruce Head Island, Maine, 1954 von Eliot Porter kam im Mai 2021 bei Christies in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 2.250,00 (€ 1.845,17) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Eliot Porter erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Trees, 1958-1975 im April 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 46.600,00 (€ 29.933,20).
