Auction result well in line with expectations
The work 'Glen Canyon' by Eliot Porter was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in April 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 6,000.00 – 9,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 6,300.00 (€ 5,236.91) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Eliot Porter have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Trees, 1958-1975 in April 2008 with an auction result of USD 46,600.00 (€ 29,933.20).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit 'Glen Canyon' von Eliot Porter kam im April 2021 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 6.000,00 – 9.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 6.300,00 (€ 5.236,91) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Eliot Porter auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Trees, 1958-1975 im April 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 46.600,00 (€ 29.933,20).
