Auction result well in line with expectations
In July this year Bonhams in London held the auction Photographs Now The Collector's Edition, which included the work 'Cactus Blossoms, Big Bend, Texas' and 'Flowers and Stump, Zion National Park, Utah' by Eliot Porter. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of USD 1,024.00 (€ 929.22) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Eliot Porter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Trees, 1958-1975 in April 2008 with an auction result of USD 46,600.00 (€ 29,933.20).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Photographs Now The Collector's Edition durch, in der auch die Arbeit 'Cactus Blossoms, Big Bend, Texas' and 'Flowers and Stump, Zion National Park, Utah' von Eliot Porter zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 1.024,00 (€ 929,22) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Eliot Porter erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Trees, 1958-1975 im April 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 46.600,00 (€ 29.933,20).
