In April 2017 Phillips in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Intimate Landscapes by Eliot Porter. The »bidding war« ended at USD 15,000.00 (€ 13,767.78), 67% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Eliot Porter - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Trees, 1958-1975, which sold at auction in April 2008 for USD 46,600.00 (€ 29,933.20).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 67 % übertroffen
Im April 2017 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Intimate Landscapes von Eliot Porter zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 15.000,00 (€ 13.767,78) und damit 67% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Eliot Porter mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Trees, 1958-1975 beobachtet, die im April 2008 für USD 46.600,00 (€ 29.933,20) versteigert wurde.
