Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
The work Intimate Landscapes by Eliot Porter was worth GBP 20,000.00 (€ 25,145.52) to a buyer in November 2014. This price was achieved in the auction Photographs from the Collection of the Art Institute of Chicago at Phillips in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 4,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Eliot Porter; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Trees, 1958-1975 sold at auction in April 2008 with the realized price of USD 46,600.00 (€ 29,933.20).
