This artwork by Eliot Porter achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in October 2017. In the Photographs auction, the work In Wildness sold for USD 17,500.00 (€ 15,024.04) - well above the upper estimate of USD 9,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Eliot Porter; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Trees, 1958-1975 sold at auction in April 2008 with the realized price of USD 46,600.00 (€ 29,933.20).
