Upper estimate price exceeded by 65 %.
The work Gold Band by El Anatsui was auctioned at Phillips in London in March this year. It achieved a price of GBP 82,550.00 (€ 93,916.57), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 65%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by El Anatsui achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Prophet in May this year with an auction result of USD 2,228,000.00 (€ 2,091,233.34).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 65 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Gold Band von El Anatsui kam im März diesen Jahres bei Phillips in London zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von GBP 82.550,00 (€ 93.916,57) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 65%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von El Anatsui erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Prophet im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.228.000,00 (€ 2.091.233,34).
