Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Diaspora by El Anatsui was sold in the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction at Phillips in Hong Kong in October this year. The price achieved of HKD 254,000.00 (€ 30,716.50) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as HKD 200,000.00 – 300,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by El Anatsui achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Prophet in May this year with an auction result of USD 2,228,000.00 (€ 2,091,233.34).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Diaspora von El Anatsui wurde im Oktober diesen Jahres in der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale bei Phillips in Hong Kong versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von HKD 254.000,00 (€ 30.716,50) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit HKD 200.000,00 – 300.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von El Anatsui erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Prophet im Mai diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.228.000,00 (€ 2.091.233,34).
