Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Warrior by El Anatsui was sold in the 20th/21st Century: London Evening Sale auction at Christies in London in October this year. The price achieved of GBP 819,000.00 (€ 940,439.53) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 700,000.00 – 1,000,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by El Anatsui - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Prophet, which sold at auction in May this year for USD 2,228,000.00 (€ 2,091,233.34).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Warrior von El Anatsui wurde im Oktober diesen Jahres in der Auktion 20th/21st Century: London Evening Sale bei Christies in London versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 819.000,00 (€ 940.439,53) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 700.000,00 – 1.000.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von El Anatsui mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Prophet beobachtet, die im Mai diesen Jahres für USD 2.228.000,00 (€ 2.091.233,34) versteigert wurde.
