Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2007 Sothebys in Olympia held the auction 20th Century British & Irish Art, which included the work Reclining Nude by Edward Wolfe. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 4,000.00 – 6,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 4,080.00 (€ 6,005.29) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Edward Wolfe - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of Curtis Thomas, which sold at auction in July 2006 for GBP 9,600.00 (€ 14,053.27).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2007 führte Sothebys in Olympia die Auktion 20th Century British & Irish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Reclining Nude von Edward Wolfe zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 4.000,00 – 6.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 4.080,00 (€ 6.005,29) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von Edward Wolfe mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Portrait of Curtis Thomas beobachtet, die im Juli 2006 für GBP 9.600,00 (€ 14.053,27) versteigert wurde.
