Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2017 Sothebys in London held the auction Old Master & British Works on Paper, which included the work Lycurgus Entering Athens; Theseus'S Approach To Athens by Edward Dayes. The price achieved of GBP 10,000.00 (€ 11,158.46) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 8,000.00 – 12,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Edward Dayes achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Triumph of Beauty in December 2010 with an auction result of GBP 109,250.00 (€ 126,729.67).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Juli 2017 führte Sothebys in London die Auktion Old Master & British Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit Lycurgus Entering Athens; Theseus'S Approach To Athens von Edward Dayes zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von GBP 10.000,00 (€ 11.158,46) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit GBP 8.000,00 – 12.000,00 angegeben worden. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Edward Dayes erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Triumph of Beauty im Dezember 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 109.250,00 (€ 126.729,67).
