In November 2018 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work After The Feast by Eastman Johnson. The result of USD 100,000.00 (€ 88,315.82) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 100,000.00 – 150,000.00. Admittedly, works by Eastman Johnson have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The Little Soldier in May 2005 with an auction result of USD 856,000.00 (€ 693,173.54).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im November 2018 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit After The Feast von Eastman Johnson zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 100.000,00 (€ 88.315,82) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 100.000,00 – 150.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Eastman Johnson auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The Little Soldier im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 856.000,00 (€ 693.173,54).
