Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Self Portrait by Eastman Johnson was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 43,750.00 (€ 39,668.15) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Eastman Johnson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Little Soldier in May 2005 with an auction result of USD 856,000.00 (€ 693,173.54).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Self Portrait von Eastman Johnson kam im März 2020 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 43.750,00 (€ 39.668,15) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Eastman Johnson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Little Soldier im Mai 2005 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 856.000,00 (€ 693.173,54).
