Auction result misses estimated price range
This work of art by E. J. Bellocq could be acquired at Christies in New York in October 2003 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Photographs auction, the work Selected images from Storyville Portraits changed hands for USD 1,195.00 (€ 1,029.37) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by E. J. Bellocq achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Storyville Portrait, New Orleans, c. 1911-1913 in October this year with an auction result of USD 56,700.00 (€ 53,652.54).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Dieses Kunstwerk von E. J. Bellocq konnte im Oktober 2003 bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Photographs wechselte die Arbeit Selected images from Storyville Portraits für USD 1.195,00 (€ 1.029,37) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 2.000,00 – 3.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von E. J. Bellocq erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Storyville Portrait, New Orleans, c. 1911-1913 im Oktober diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 56.700,00 (€ 53.652,54).
