In October last year Bonhams in New York held the auction Photographs, which included the work Storyville Portrait, New Orleans by E. J. Bellocq. The »bidding war« ended at USD 4,462.50 (€ 4,492.15), 49% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by E. J. Bellocq achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Storyville Portrait, New Orleans, c. 1911-1913 in October this year with an auction result of USD 56,700.00 (€ 53,652.54).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 49 % übertroffen
Im Oktober letzten Jahres führte Bonhams in New York die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit Storyville Portrait, New Orleans von E. J. Bellocq zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 4.462,50 (€ 4.492,15) und damit 49% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von E. J. Bellocq erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Storyville Portrait, New Orleans, c. 1911-1913 im Oktober diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 56.700,00 (€ 53.652,54).
