Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Untitled (Storyville Portrait) by E. J. Bellocq was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 10,625.00 (€ 9,524.88) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by E. J. Bellocq have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Storyville Portrait, New Orleans, c. 1911-1913 in October this year with an auction result of USD 56,700.00 (€ 53,652.54).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Untitled (Storyville Portrait) von E. J. Bellocq kam im Oktober 2019 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 10.625,00 (€ 9.524,88) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von E. J. Bellocq auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Storyville Portrait, New Orleans, c. 1911-1913 im Oktober diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 56.700,00 (€ 53.652,54).
