Auction result misses estimated price range
In October 2004 a collector was able to acquire the work The Temple of Flora: The Narrow-Leaved Kalmia by Robert John Thornton for USD 478.00 (€ 375.02). This price was achieved in the auction THE HOUSE SALE at Christies in New York and was even below the estimate range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Robert John Thornton achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Temple of Flora: six plates in January 2011 with an auction result of USD 16,250.00 (€ 11,848.34).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im Oktober 2004 konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit The Temple of Flora: The Narrow-Leaved Kalmia von Robert John Thornton für USD 478,00 (€ 375,02) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion THE HOUSE SALE bei Christies in New York erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 1.000,00 – 1.500,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Robert John Thornton erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit The Temple of Flora: six plates im Januar 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 16.250,00 (€ 11.848,34).
