Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Dora Carrington achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in September 2019. In the Made in Britain auction, the work Stables At A French Chateau, Normandy sold for GBP 1,750.00 (€ 1,974.67) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 800.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Dora Carrington achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Flowers In A Two-Handled Vase in November 2004 with an auction result of GBP 59,750.00 (€ 85,950.05).
