Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work The Artist'S Wife Ethel Playing The Guitar by Denys George Wells was auctioned at Sothebys in London in July 2007, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 5,000.00 – 7,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 4,560.00 (€ 6,772.65). Other works by Denys George Wells have also sold for higher prices; the highest price we have seen at auction so far was achieved in July 2007 by the work Nursery Tea at GBP 9,000.00 (€ 13,367.08).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit The Artist'S Wife Ethel Playing The Guitar von Denys George Wells im Juli 2007 bei Sothebys in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 5.000,00 – 7.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 4.560,00 (€ 6.772,65) den Besitzer. Andere Arbeiten von Denys George Wells wurden auch schon teurer gehandelt; den höchsten Preis, den wir bisher bei Auktionen beobachten konnten, erzielte im Juli 2007 die Arbeit Nursery Tea mit GBP 9.000,00 (€ 13.367,08).
