This artwork by David LaChapelle achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in London in March 2019. In the The George Michael Collection Online Auction auction, the work Awakened: Ruth sold for GBP 22,500.00 (€ 26,115.07) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 12,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by David LaChapelle; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Addicted to Diamonds, 1997 sold at auction in May 2016 with the realized price of GBP 27,500.00 (€ 35,884.60).
