In November 2019 Christies in New York held the auction American Art Online, which included the work Scenery on the Weinockie, New Jersey by David Johnson. The result of USD 10,000.00 (€ 9,075.23) was exactly at the lower end of the estimate range of USD 10,000.00 – 15,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David Johnson achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work View From New Windsor, Hudson River in May 2012 with an auction result of USD 722,500.00 (€ 584,357.81).
Zuschlag beim unteren Schätzpreis
Im November 2019 führte Christies in New York die Auktion American Art Online durch, in der auch die Arbeit Scenery on the Weinockie, New Jersey von David Johnson zur Versteigerung kam. Das dabei erzielte Ergebnis von USD 10.000,00 (€ 9.075,23) entsprach exakt dem unteren Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 10.000,00 – 15.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von David Johnson erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit View From New Windsor, Hudson River im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 722.500,00 (€ 584.357,81).
