In December 2016 Christies in London held the auction Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, Maritime Art, Sporting & Wildlife Art, which included the work Fistral Bay, Cornwall, Evening by David James. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 18,750.00 (€ 21,921.79), 25% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David James - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Cornish Rollers, which sold at auction in December 2017 for GBP 75,000.00 (€ 84,401.51).

Im Dezember 2016 führte Christies in London die Auktion Victorian, Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, Maritime Art, Sporting & Wildlife Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Fistral Bay, Cornwall, Evening von David James zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 18.750,00 (€ 21.921,79) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von David James mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Cornish Rollers beobachtet, die im Dezember 2017 für GBP 75.000,00 (€ 84.401,51) versteigert wurde.
