Auction result well in line with expectations
In December 2018 Christies in London held the auction British Art: Victorian, Pre Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art, which included the work Cornish breakers by David James. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 35,000.00 (€ 38,993.10) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David James - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Cornish Rollers, which sold at auction in December 2017 for GBP 75,000.00 (€ 84,401.51).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Dezember 2018 führte Christies in London die Auktion British Art: Victorian, Pre Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Cornish breakers von David James zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 35.000,00 (€ 38.993,10) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von David James mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Cornish Rollers beobachtet, die im Dezember 2017 für GBP 75.000,00 (€ 84.401,51) versteigert wurde.
