Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Breaking waves by David James was sold in the Victorian Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art auction at Christies in London in July 2018. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 32,500.00 (€ 36,439.65) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by David James - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Cornish Rollers, which sold at auction in December 2017 for GBP 75,000.00 (€ 84,401.51).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Breaking waves von David James wurde im Juli 2018 in der Auktion Victorian Pre-Raphaelite & British Impressionist Art bei Christies in London versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 32.500,00 (€ 36.439,65) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von David James mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Cornish Rollers beobachtet, die im Dezember 2017 für GBP 75.000,00 (€ 84.401,51) versteigert wurde.
