Auction result well in line with expectations
In July 2010 Christies in London held the auction The Althorp Attic Sale - Including the Spencer Carriages, which included the work Unknown by David des Granges. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 800.00 – 1,200.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 812.50 (€ 976.94) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by David des Granges achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A lady called Catherine of Braganza, in white silk-bordered russet dress, drop-pearl at corsage, blue shawl, pearl necklace, double drop-pearl earring, pearls in her upswept brown hair dressed in curls in November 2007 with an auction result of GBP 13,700.00 (€ 19,183.54).
