Artwork auctioned at five times the upper estimate price
The work Monument Valley by David Barbero was worth USD 7,012.50 (€ 6,212.90) to a buyer in November 2021. This price was achieved in the auction American Art at Bonhams in New York and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of USD 1,200.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by David Barbero; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Pedernal - Two Junipers 20 1/8 x 24 1/4 in. (51.1 x 61.6 cm.) sold at auction in May last year with the realized price of USD 12,112.50 (€ 11,287.39).
