Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Lumina 20 x 24 in. (50.8 x 61 cm.) by David Barbero was auctioned at Bonhams in New York in May last year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 3,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 10,837.50 (€ 10,099.25). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by David Barbero; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Pedernal - Two Junipers 20 1/8 x 24 1/4 in. (51.1 x 61.6 cm.) sold at auction in May last year with the realized price of USD 12,112.50 (€ 11,287.39).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Lumina 20 x 24 in. (50.8 x 61 cm.) von David Barbero im Mai letzten Jahres bei Bonhams in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 3.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 10.837,50 (€ 10.099,25) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von David Barbero; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Pedernal - Two Junipers 20 1/8 x 24 1/4 in. (51.1 x 61.6 cm.) im Mai letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von USD 12.112,50 (€ 11.287,39).
