Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by David Barbero achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in New York in November 2021. In the American Art auction, the work Abyss Grand Canyon sold for USD 7,650.00 (€ 6,777.71) - well above the upper estimate of USD 3,000.00. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by David Barbero; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Pedernal - Two Junipers 20 1/8 x 24 1/4 in. (51.1 x 61.6 cm.) sold at auction in May last year with the realized price of USD 12,112.50 (€ 11,287.39).
