Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Untitled 3 (The Watchers) by David Altmejd was auctioned at Phillips in London in October 2016, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of GBP 60,000.00 – 80,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for GBP 56,250.00 (€ 62,664.20). Admittedly, works by David Altmejd have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work The New North in June 2012 with an auction result of GBP 217,250.00 (€ 269,007.22).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Untitled 3 (The Watchers) von David Altmejd im Oktober 2016 bei Phillips in London versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 60.000,00 – 80.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für GBP 56.250,00 (€ 62.664,20) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von David Altmejd auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit The New North im Juni 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 217.250,00 (€ 269.007,22).
