The work L’oeuf by David Altmejd was sold in the Art for One Drop auction at Phillips in New York in September 2018. The »bidding war« ended at USD 198,000.00 (€ 170,366.55), 65% above the upper estimate. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by David Altmejd; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot The New North sold at auction in June 2012 with the realized price of GBP 217,250.00 (€ 269,007.22).
