Despite a disappointment, a good price for Daniel Johnston
This work of art by Daniel Johnston could be acquired at Phillips in New York in October 2008 for an unexpectedly low price. In the Saturday@Phillips auction, the work You Shall Die changed hands for USD 938.00 (€ 739.63) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00. Despite this disappointing result, You Shall Die is the most expensive artwork by Daniel Johnston that we have observed at auction so far.
