The work Vela - Abstract Formation by Damrong Wong-Uparaj was sold in the Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale) auction at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2013. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 187,500.00 (€ 17,777.08), 34% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Damrong Wong-Uparaj have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Traditional Houses on Stilts, 1962 in March 2019 with an auction result of HKD 875,625.00 (€ 99,353.96).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 34 % übertroffen
Die Arbeit Vela - Abstract Formation von Damrong Wong-Uparaj wurde im November 2013 in der Auktion Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale) bei Christies in Hong Kong versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 187.500,00 (€ 17.777,08) und damit 34% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Damrong Wong-Uparaj auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Traditional Houses on Stilts, 1962 im März 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 875.625,00 (€ 99.353,96).
