This artwork by Damrong Wong-Uparaj achieved an unexpectedly high price at Bonhams in Hong Kong in April 2020. In the Ritual + Culture OnlineFine Southeast Asian Arts auction, the work Monks sold for HKD 113,125.00 (€ 13,320.97) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 60,000.00. Admittedly, works by Damrong Wong-Uparaj have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Traditional Houses on Stilts, 1962 in March 2019 with an auction result of HKD 875,625.00 (€ 99,353.96).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 89 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Damrong Wong-Uparaj erzielte im April 2020 bei Bonhams in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Ritual + Culture OnlineFine Southeast Asian Arts wurde die Arbeit Monks für HKD 113.125,00 (€ 13.320,97) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 60.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Damrong Wong-Uparaj auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Traditional Houses on Stilts, 1962 im März 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 875.625,00 (€ 99.353,96).
