In December last year Christies in Hong Kong held the auction 20th Century Art Day Sale, which included the work Back to the Village by Damrong Wong-Uparaj. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 352,800.00 (€ 42,277.96), 26% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Damrong Wong-Uparaj - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Traditional Houses on Stilts, 1962, which sold at auction in March 2019 for HKD 875,625.00 (€ 99,353.96).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 26 % übertroffen
Im Dezember letzten Jahres führte Christies in Hong Kong die Auktion 20th Century Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Back to the Village von Damrong Wong-Uparaj zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 352.800,00 (€ 42.277,96) und damit 26% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Damrong Wong-Uparaj mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Traditional Houses on Stilts, 1962 beobachtet, die im März 2019 für HKD 875.625,00 (€ 99.353,96) versteigert wurde.
