This artwork by Damrong Wong-Uparaj achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in Hong Kong in November 2013. In the Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale) auction, the work Three Thai Women Weaving Fronds into Baskets sold for HKD 275,000.00 (€ 26,073.06) - well above the upper estimate of HKD 150,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Damrong Wong-Uparaj - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Traditional Houses on Stilts, 1962, which sold at auction in March 2019 for HKD 875,625.00 (€ 99,353.96).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 83 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Damrong Wong-Uparaj erzielte im November 2013 bei Christies in Hong Kong einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale) wurde die Arbeit Three Thai Women Weaving Fronds into Baskets für HKD 275.000,00 (€ 26.073,06) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von HKD 150.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Damrong Wong-Uparaj mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Traditional Houses on Stilts, 1962 beobachtet, die im März 2019 für HKD 875.625,00 (€ 99.353,96) versteigert wurde.
