Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable during the filming of 'The Misfits', Nevada by Cornell Capa was auctioned at Lempertz in Cologne in November 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of EUR 1,800.00 – 2,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for EUR 1,612.00. Admittedly, works by Cornell Capa have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Bolshoi Ballet School, Moscow in October 2015 with an auction result of USD 11,250.00 (€ 10,188.37).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Marilyn Monroe and Clark Gable during the filming of 'The Misfits', Nevada von Cornell Capa im November 2018 bei Lempertz in Köln versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von EUR 1.800,00 – 2.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für EUR 1.612,00 den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Cornell Capa auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Bolshoi Ballet School, Moscow im Oktober 2015 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 11.250,00 (€ 10.188,37).
