In May 2006 Christies in London held the auction Photographs, which included the work John F. Kennedy, Washington, D.C., 1961 by Cornell Capa. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 2,400.00 (€ 3,503.22), 60% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Cornell Capa - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Bolshoi Ballet School, Moscow, which sold at auction in October 2015 for USD 11,250.00 (€ 10,188.37).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 60 % übertroffen
Im Mai 2006 führte Christies in London die Auktion Photographs durch, in der auch die Arbeit John F. Kennedy, Washington, D.C., 1961 von Cornell Capa zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 2.400,00 (€ 3.503,22) und damit 60% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Cornell Capa mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Bolshoi Ballet School, Moscow beobachtet, die im Oktober 2015 für USD 11.250,00 (€ 10.188,37) versteigert wurde.
