Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work John F. Kennedy, Campaign, 1960 by Cornell Capa was auctioned at Christies in New York in December 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 687.50 (€ 529.95). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Cornell Capa achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Bolshoi Ballet School, Moscow in October 2015 with an auction result of USD 11,250.00 (€ 10,188.37).
