In October 2000 Christies in London held the auction IMPRESSIONIST AND 19TH CENTURY ART, which included the work Returning with the flock by Cornelis Westerbeek. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 4,112.50 (€ 7,029.44), 37% above the upper estimate. Other works by Cornelis Westerbeek have achieved even higher prices, we observed the highest auction result so far of USD 11,352.50 (€ 9,321.37) in June 2004 for the work A Shepherd and his Flock.
