Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Off Wapping High Street, the walls of the Tabacco and Alcohol Dock, London, 1962; Scotswood, Newcastle, 1963 by Colin Jones was auctioned at Phillips in London in May 2009. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 1,000.00 – 1,500.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 1,125.00 (€ 1,286.99) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Colin Jones have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Newcastle, 1963 in September 2010 with an auction result of GBP 8,125.00 (€ 9,397.42).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Off Wapping High Street, the walls of the Tabacco and Alcohol Dock, London, 1962; Scotswood, Newcastle, 1963 von Colin Jones kam im Mai 2009 bei Phillips in London zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 1.000,00 – 1.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 1.125,00 (€ 1.286,99) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Colin Jones auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Newcastle, 1963 im September 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 8.125,00 (€ 9.397,42).
