It achieved a price of USD 8,594,500.00 (€ 6,951,229.38), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 23%. Admittedly, works by Clyfford Still have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work 1949-A-No . 1 in November 2011 with an auction result of USD 61,682,500.00 (€ 45,850,367.95).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Untitled (PH-786, 1955-R) von Clyfford Still wurde im Mai 2012 in der Auktion Post-War and Contemporary Art Evening Sale bei Christies in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 8.594.500,00 (€ 6.951.229,38) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 23%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Clyfford Still auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit 1949-A-No . 1 im November 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 61.682.500,00 (€ 45.850.367,95).
