Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Selected Images Of Greta Garbo, Jean Harlow And Clark Gable, Circa 1940 by Clarence Sinclair Bull was auctioned at Christies in New York in April 2004, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 2,000.00 – 3,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,792.50 (€ 907.59). Admittedly, works by Clarence Sinclair Bull have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Greta Garbo, publicity portrait for “Anna Christie” (dir. Jacques Feyder), 1930 in November this year with an auction result of EUR 4,410.00.
