Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Brown Mandala by Clarence Holbrook Carter was auctioned at Bonhams in February this year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 600.00 – 900.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 382.50 (€ 360.78). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Clarence Holbrook Carter achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Empress of the North in August this year with an auction result of USD 19,200.00 (€ 17,713.81).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Brown Mandala von Clarence Holbrook Carter im Februar diesen Jahres bei Bonhams versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 600,00 – 900,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 382,50 (€ 360,78) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Clarence Holbrook Carter erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Empress of the North im August diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 19.200,00 (€ 17.713,81).
