Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Chuck Close achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in July 2021. In the Contemporary Art Online | New York auction, the work The Ballerina sold for USD 40,320.00 (€ 33,985.17) - well above the upper estimate of USD 18,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Chuck Close achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Gwynne in May 2004 with an auction result of USD 2,807,500.00 (€ 2,298,027.34).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Chuck Close erzielte im Juli 2021 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Art Online | New York wurde die Arbeit The Ballerina für USD 40.320,00 (€ 33.985,17) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 18.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Chuck Close erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Gwynne im Mai 2004 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 2.807.500,00 (€ 2.298.027,34).
