In October last year Christies in London held the auction Modern British & Irish Art Day Sale, which included the work Bridge And Notre Dame, Paris by Christopher Wood. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 47,880.00 (€ 55,779.67), 60% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Christopher Wood have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Drying Sails, Mousehole, Cornwall in June last year with an auction result of GBP 479,100.00 (€ 556,577.92).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 60 % übertroffen
Im Oktober letzten Jahres führte Christies in London die Auktion Modern British & Irish Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Bridge And Notre Dame, Paris von Christopher Wood zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 47.880,00 (€ 55.779,67) und damit 60% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Christopher Wood auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Drying Sails, Mousehole, Cornwall im Juni letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 479.100,00 (€ 556.577,92).
