In June this year Bonhams in London held the auction Modern British & Irish Art, which included the work Spring Flowers in a Jug by Christopher Wood. The »bidding war« ended at GBP 95,650.00 (€ 111,320.13), 59% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Christopher Wood have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Drying Sails, Mousehole, Cornwall in June last year with an auction result of GBP 479,100.00 (€ 556,577.92).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 59 % übertroffen
Im Juni diesen Jahres führte Bonhams in London die Auktion Modern British & Irish Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Spring Flowers in a Jug von Christopher Wood zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von GBP 95.650,00 (€ 111.320,13) und damit 59% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Christopher Wood auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Drying Sails, Mousehole, Cornwall im Juni letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 479.100,00 (€ 556.577,92).
