Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
The work Men In Line Series by Chen Yu was worth HKD 583,500.00 (€ 48,087.78) to a buyer in April 2008. This price was achieved in the auction Contemporary Chinese Art II at Sothebys in Hong Kong and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of HKD 150,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Chen Yu; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Untitled No. 4, 2006 sold at auction in September 2020 with the realized price of HKD 504,000.00 (€ 55,483.87).
