Auction result misses estimated price range
In November 2018 a collector was able to acquire the work Nude on a Red Carpet by Chen Chengbo for HKD 225,000.00 (€ 25,395.21). This price was achieved in the auction Asian 20th Century Art (Day Sale) Including a Selection of Japanese Woodblock Prints from Private Collections at Christies in Hong Kong and was even below the estimate range of HKD 250,000.00 – 450,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Chen Chengbo achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Sunset at Danshui in November 2007 with an auction result of HKD 50,727,500.00 (€ 4,434,511.85).
