In the Important American Paintings, Drawings and Sculpture auction, the work The Captain's Wife sold for USD 96,000.00 (€ 71,359.55) - well above the upper estimate of USD 50,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Charles Webster Hawthorne - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portuguese Fisherboy, which sold at auction in May 2015 for USD 298,000.00 (€ 271,056.94).
